Before there were mobile phones…before there was push to talk devices, there were transceivers, otherwise known as “Walkie-Talkies.” But originally the devices were called “wireless sets” and were first created to help pilots communicate effectively. When the Second World War broke out in 1939, their benefits for soldiers immersed in battle became clear. The earliest devices weighed approximately five pounds and were around 17 inches high. Later journalists called them “Walkie-Talkies.”This set of 2 Vintage Space-Age 1970s Archer Walkie-Talkies are in flawless condition. No scratches and clean battery compartments. They come with one original box and packaging. Both power on and static can be heard when the button is not pressed but I couldn’t get either of them to transmit to the other. Maybe a crystal issue or old capacitors. I’m not very electrically inclined, so I’m not sure. Maybe fixable. Nonetheless, they make for great display pieces among your radio or transceiver collection ideal for everyday use. top-grade materials and excellent craftsmanship ensure long-lasting durability.
