Artist: George Canning Wales (1868-1940) was an American marine artist, naval architect and graduate of MIT. He began to study art before 1920 and had his first exhibition in 1921. He published “Etchings and Lithographs of American Ships” in 1927 and also produced vessel drawings used as illustrations in various publications by Howard I. Chapelle.

American Ships: newly-released Bedford Whalers Rousseau and Lagoda. This lithograph is an original, is the 21st in the series and dated 1924. It is signed by the artist in the lower right and may need various restoration and cleaning due to age. Measurements are 24” long x 20.5” high.
