More information about 5th century BCE Greek enamel on debased gold amulet.

This is a beautifully preserved example of Greek enameling on a debased gold medallion.Just the fact that it's lasted over 2,000 years is no small feat in itself. I have never seen a piece of enameling this old anywhere. It is absolutely gorgeous. I removed and filled a few of the edges for symmetry and to remove jagged edges. The damage could have been caused by numerous factors. Every time I look at this piece I try an imagin what it looked like in its totality.
