This is a vintage Red Head shoe stretcher made by the Rochester Shoe Tree Company in Rochester, NY. I got it at an estate sale. It’s in excellent vintage condition and makes a wonderful decorative item for a primitive collection. These wooden stretchers were designed to stretch or widen shoes, particularly leather shoes, and could also be used to address issues like bunion bumps. They feature a metal handle that, when turned, expands the wooden form to stretch the shoe. The "Red Head" brand was a product of the O.A. Miller Co. This particular shoe stretcher is described as a "cobbler tool" and a potential conversation piece. It's made of wood and metal, with the metal handle used to expand the shoe's width. The stretcher is designed for the left foot and has the number three imprinted on top
